The Phoenix Tattoo

The mythology surrounding the phoenix relates to the rebirth of all things.  When something supposedly dies, it is often simply a transformation from what was, to what it now will be.  The phoenix is said to burn up in flames at the end of its life, then to be reborn from those ashes once again to its full glory.  The tears are supposed to have healing powers, as well.  It is a bird of strength and intelligence.  In addition, it was supposed to be very beautiful as well.  The flames beginning to engulf this phoenix frame the main image well.  The feathers are really well done and the tail has a peacock feel to it.  Love the look of the head and the placement of the claws, too.  It is flapping amidst the fire, yet clearly not afraid.
